The maker of the entire universe delights in helping us with the small things in life.
I lift my eyes to the mountains–where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.Psalm 121:1-2
My Reflections on His Help
Our meditation this week really stayed in my head as I went about my daily life. I loved the imagery of the mountain, and I loved the act of lifting my eyes up to it. Throughout the day, I imagined that action of turning my face toward Him.
Some of the things I was doing when I was prompted to pause and lift my eyes to Him:
- Goal-setting for the year
- Doing laundry (I do a lot of praying while folding!)
- Napping (we’ve all been nursing a cold and there have been a lot of naps)
- Tending to a sick cat
- Spending time with friends
- Thinking about a healthier diet (notice I’m still just “thinking”)
- Planning next week
- Purging my room (the Lord helped me decide what really brings me joy and held me steady as I tossed the rest)
- Talking with my mom
- Cleaning the kitchen
Our Help in All Times
Obviously, I’m not in a season where I’m clinging to the Lord during a major storm; I simply have daily life-needs. But I can picture Him smiling as I turn to Him while tidying up the dining room table. The mundane things in our days are what come together to create a beautiful life, and God is in the center of it all.
He’s our help when times are tough, and He’s our help when we’re holding steady. And during all times, He’s the master creator of the universe!
It shocks me every time I think of it. It’s like having Shakespeare work with you on the Church Easter pageant. Amazing, right?
I’d love to hear what you’ve been meditating on this week. Were you focused on our weekly verse? Or did the Lord lead you somewhere else?
