Meditation on the Peace of Jesus
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” –Jesus (John 14:27)
As we get ready for a season of Thanksgiving and gift giving, let’s prepare our hearts by meditating on Jesus’ gift of peace. His peace reconciled us to God as no other act could do. When our faith is in Jesus, his gift makes us righteous and able to come into God’s presence. What an amazing gift — to pay the cost for a relationship with God!
Here’s a look at my dialogue with the Holy Spirit while meditating on this passage. This is just a model to get you started. Meditating on scripture is a very personal journey and relationship with God, but you may find my Meditation Guide helpful. Follow His prompting.
Peace I leave with you–Jesus, thank you for leaving peace that passes all understanding for us. Peace in knowing who we are in you. Where we’re going. That we have eternal life. That you have conquered this world. That we are chosen and loved. That the struggles of this world are dim in comparison to your glory. And ultimately, peace between us and God. (I’m still and quiet with the thoughts of peace Jesus left)
my peace I give you.– Thank you, Jesus for this gift that was yours to freely give. Thank you for not making me earn it, because I never could. (I’m still and quiet, filled with thanks)
I do not give to you as the world gives. — Your gift, Lord, cannot be taken away, cannot decay, is not tarnished, is not fleeting, cannot be questioned. It is real and permanent. (I’m still and quiet as I reflect on the assurance I have in this gift from Jesus)
Do not let your hearts be troubled — I have been reconciled to God through the gift of peace from Jesus; what more could I want? (I think through my anxieties and release them to the Lord)
and do not be afraid. — I am gifted peace that is more assured that anything in this world. There is nothing here to be afraid of (I am still with thoughts of being strengthened and supported with the gift Jesus has given me)

We are called to meditate on scripture throughout the day, so to help all of us, I post a daily reminder in my Facebook Group. It even includes the weekly scripture for easy reflection.
